2023 FRS Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Chiana Tubbs of Stuart, NE! Chiana is the recipient of a $2,500 Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) Scholarship! Chiana is a 2023 graduate of Stuart High School and now attends Morningside University in Sioux City, IA.  Chiana was just one of 42 FRS Scholarship recipients in 2023 with nearly 1,100 applicants nation-wide!

In May of 2023, NNTC’s General Manager Pat McElroy surprised Chiana and her classmates during their last class of the last day of senior year!

“I was so surprised; I had no idea it was happening! I’m going to double major in biology and chemistry and come back to my hometown and work as a physician’s assistant,” Chiana shared.

The FRS Scholarship Program awards one-time scholarships to students from rural communities for their first year of college, university, or vocational-technical school. Each student is sponsored by an NTCA member company that also contributes a portion of the scholarship award.

“Providing opportunities for young people in rural communities is a core mission for FRS. We are proud to partner with NTCA member companies and generous individuals in the industry to make these scholarships possible each year. Congratulations to Chiana Tubbs,” said Pam Becker, Executive Director of FRS.
